Three years ago in the midst of the pandemic, the Junior League created JL Delivers – a heartfelt lifeline for families transitioning from shelter to independent lives into homes that they can call their own. Without JL Delivers, many families would not have had food for their first meal, the basic supplies to make their new house a home, or the necessities to begin cleaning up – literally and figuratively – and start their lives anew. This is just one of the many ways the Junior League of Grand Rapids continues to impact the at risk women and children in our community.

At a recent JLGR event, Charisse Mitchell, CEO of YWCA West Central Michigan shared her sentiments on the five decade long partnership with the Junior League of Grand Rapids.

“I don’t want to live in a world without the Junior League. The road to healing for thousands of survivors would have a lot  more potholes if it weren’t for each one of the incredible Junior League volunteers, and supporters like you. In your work, in your giving, you are telling the survivors – I see you, I see your humanity. The message stays in the survivors’ hearts long after they leave shelter, long after the food is eaten, long after the sun goes down on a beautiful day of play,  and for that, we are forever grateful.”
