About JLGR

Throughout our 90-year history, our 800+ members have continued to research community needs, identify problems, and develop effective and responsive projects to address those problems.  In 1925, JLGR began by a group of visionary women committed to serving the Grand Rapids community.  Today, the same commitment to women and children continues with current JLGR projects, including Kids in the Kitchen and the JL Wellness Adventure Yard.

Mission: The Junior League of Grand Rapids is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Vision: The Junior League: Women Around the World as Catalysts for Lasting Community Change.

Focus: Improving Children’s Physical Health

Lead the WAY

The Junior League Wellness Adventure Yard

The JL W.A.Y. goal is to increase access to play for children in Grand Rapids by introducing a healthy lifestyle concept through the implementation of professionally-developed local play environments.  These Wellness Adventure Yards give children the opportunity to practice goal setting, build confidence, and explore concepts of cooperation and teamwork through inclusive equipment and uniquely designed spaces.
