WHO IS THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF GRAND RAPIDS?
We are leaders and visionaries, activists and philanthropists, graduates and professionals, moms and singletons. From all generations and backgrounds, we are bound by one goal: to improve the state of children’s physical health in Grand Rapids.
We would love for you to join us as we are actively recruiting new members. For more information, please email us at JLProvisional@gmail.com.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
The Junior League of Grand Rapids is always looking for new members to join and become committed volunteers to the Grand Rapids community. Fill out this information form if you are interested in learning more. You will hear from someone within 24 hours with information on how to get connected.
We accept new members during June/July each year and start new member training in August. In order to join our 2022 – 2023 class of new members, we request that you complete the following:
- Attend at least one Junior League of Grand Rapids recruitment event OR meet with a member of the recruitment committee. For information on upcoming events please e-mail JLProvisional@gmail.com to inquire.
- Complete the application. We will open our application and payment process on July 1, 2022. To confirm your membership, please complete the application by August 1, 2022.
- Complete payment of $62, due at time of application, which consists of one-quarter of your annual dues ($52) plus $10 for your JLGR volunteer t-shirt. Total annual dues are $208 which go towards being a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), our parent organization that provides us with training and resources. The remainder goes toward office staff, office space, and meetings (food and beverage). $148 of your dues are tax-deductible.
We also need to ensure we have the proper structure in place to support our members, which may mean that we need to cap the number of women in the 2022 – 2023 new member class. In years with greater demand than usual, it is possible that applicants will be placed on a wait list for the following year.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU JOIN
As a new member, you will be trained on League history, our mission, current projects, and fundraisers. By the end of your first year, each woman will have had the opportunity to interact with and learn about each of our committees, volunteer at events, and implement a service project. Please refer to our New Member information packet for more specific information.
The Junior League of Grand Rapids reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. Any woman over the age of 21 who is interested in voluntarism and has the desire to develop her potential through community participation is encouraged to join. Please follow us on Instagram for up-to-date information geared towards ladies that are interested in League membership.
